ANIMISTIC OASIS
The project, which was created for PRIMA competition, envisions an oasis designed to serve and be inhabited by all forms of life. It is a space of harmonious coexistence, where the spiritual and the functional merge, providing shelter while strengthening connections between species.
This sanctuary also welcomes creatures to inhabit it, offering a safe and nurturing space where life can grow and evolve. Its curved form and adaptable design make it an ideal nesting site, allowing parents to shelter their young while remaining connected to their surroundings. Whether seeking solitude or interaction, all species find a home within this space.
The project consciously references animism—the belief that all living beings, including nature itself, possess spirit and agency. Rooted in this idea, our design becomes an inclusive oasis, uniting different forms of life. It is not just a refuge but a symbol of elemental harmony, fostering unity and interaction across all manifestations of existence.
A curvaceous metal structure acts as a sanctuary for diverse organisms, offering a crucial water source in arid landscapes. As rain cascades down its surface, it goes through, creating a life-sustaining oasis. Under the sun, it expands its purpose, providing shade and shelter. At night, its organic curves transform into a peaceful retreat for rest and contemplation. On special occasions, the structure’s interior can be ignited, with flames dancing across its surface in a symbolic celebration of life’s energy and renewal.
