ANALOGIES OF SEVERITY

This project is a Story with a capital S. A story of a harsh isolated life through a reflection of austere beauty. The footage captures different seasons, predominantly a wintery spring in Solovki, and echoes of the town in other worlds. Experiences that we wanted to share through visual juxtaposition were taken on both film and digital cameras. These images are full of landscapes, buildings, and people absorbed in their daily labors. Almost all of them are black and white, floating in space, driving the beholder to look closely and enter a dialogue.
